Window Air Conditioners are not meant for Thru-Wall Sleeves

Do you live in a condo with a wall m0unt air conditioner? You may be able to find a window A/C that fits in your opening, but there are several reasons why this is not a good idea:

  • Voids Warranty – Most window A/C warranties stipulate that the vents on the side cannot be restricted (as they are when placed in a thru-wall sleeve.
  • Premature Burn-Out/Poor Performance – By restricting the vents on the sides of your unit, you will be preventing it from operating as efficient as possible, and risking premature burn-out. Manufacturers don’t put vents on A/Cs for no reason!
  • Less Cooling Power – In many cases, you will be replacing a 10,000 or 12,000 BTU A/C with a 6,000 or 8,000 BTU window unit.
